The human experience with law and sin didn’t end with the historical events of the Old Testament. Those old issues are still with us in the present!

Israel and the Gentiles in Paul’s time still face the same troubling chemistry of law and sin. Judaism — the kind Paul grew up with — knows this struggle described in 7:14-25. Gentiles, seduced into believing that they need the law, are struggling with the conflict also.[BN,8]
