Psalm 115:4-8

But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

From Background Notes [BN] for June 1st & 2nd written by Pastor Bob Brown:

That is, the voices of the gods can change nothing whatsoever, and these feeble images are nothing more than reflections of “those who make them” who are equally “like them.”

Altogether the system of worship that gathers around such gods has no basis to trust in them, for they are entirely unreliable. Persons become what they worship.

Therefore Psalm 29 demands from these so-called gods that they relinquish their claims to be gods, and instead to “ascribe” (that is, “give”) to Yahweh “glory and praise” and to ascribe “the glory due his Name.” In effect fictitious gods rob God of His royal majesty, and distract human beings from His true worship.  [BN, 5]
