Colossians 4:5-6

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Such speech is about the word directed toward the “outsiders,” that aims at a different kind of power, one that is “gracious” in its role of “answering” the questions posed to the Good News.

We are the witnesses of such speech, and we are entrusted with the voice turned outward in saving power. How precious is the word of saving faith! How serious is our calling to speak as Paul encourages here, so that the Gospel might become sweetness to those whose lives have been made sour by sin!  [BN, 6]
