1 John 4:19

We love because He first loved us.

From Background Notes [BN] for May 18th & 19th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Out of love, redeeming, gracious, initiative-taking love, God speaks. He breaks the silence so that He can break the hold of debilitating sin on the lives of his children.

Silence was deadening for our first human parents; it was not golden. They heard God’s voice and hid. They heard God’s voice and came out of hiding. God did not stop speaking because they hid, and His words compelled them to face reality in order to move beyond their failure. He spoke, and then He clothed them using the skins of animals as powerful signs of His voice inviting them back into His fellowship. [BN, 5]
