Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

From Background Notes [BN] for May 21st & 22nd written by Pastor Bob Brown:

“Penetrates, divides, judges, uncovers, lays bare, gives an account.” These are strong verbs of our heart check, and...

... they attend to the condition of our hearts, filled with divine diagnosis and followed by priestly restoration. Our responsibility is ongoing, for we must “hold firmly” to our commitments to confess our sins, walk with Jesus, be filled with the Spirit, and devote ourselves in service to God and others. The evidence of heart-healing is the fruit of our faith. God’s prescription for restored hearts must be filled. The doctor’s orders must be followed to the letter of His word. Our seriousness about healing must firm. Pure hearts must become responsible hearts which form habits of holiness. [BN,11]
