Genesis 15:1

After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.

From Background Notes [BN] for May 28th & 29th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

In our study this week, we turn our attention to the heart of God. Biblical writers are sparse in directly using the word “heart” with reference to God. But...

...a single word analysis alone can be misleading, for there are many other ways to speak about what it is that God experiences within Himself when He relates to His human creations. In this respect Maimonides was right in locating the attributes of God in His concrete actions which come from His true nature. Many terms appear in the biblical text to express His heart, beginning with His love. They also include compassion, joy, and delight, as well as anger, jealousy, and sorrow (grief). [BN,1]
