Genesis 37:5

Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more.

From Background Notes [BN] for June 28th & 29th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Joseph comes to play a pivotal role in advancing the purposes of God for his people. Therefore, the life of Joseph is not just about him as a solitary hero who attracts notoriety for his own exploits, but belongs to the larger narrative in the flow of salvation history.

This Joseph is caught up in a grand drama begun in the ancient past, but now coming to fulfillment in and through his own life and work. As such, the story of Joseph reminds us all that our individual journeys are, in the final analysis, never truly isolated ones. Our own integrity ought to further advance the greater plan of God for the world. [BN,1]
