Hebrews 5:7-9

During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.

From Background Notes [BN] for January 28th/29th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Perhaps nowhere else in the New Testament do we find such an impassioned description of the process Jesus underwent on the way to the cross and beyond. Words like “cries” and “tears,” combined with “prayers” and “petitions” reveal how it was that Jesus “endured the cross and despised the shame,” all the while “looking at the joy set before him.”.[BN,5]
