Hebrews 1:1-4

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

These verses affirm that:

1.     The age of prophecy is over.

2.     God has spoken once and for all time via His Son.

3.     Jesus, the Messiah/Christ, made all things.

4.     Jesus is now exalted to the position of the firstborn heir of God the Father.

5.     The age of sacrifice is over.  The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) is no longer relevant.  A High Priest is no longer needed to offer the blood of bulls and goats.  Jesus performed the work of redemption by offering His blood for us sinners… once and for all.

In closing, during this Holy Season, it is our hope that you seek out the Great High Priest who came to save you.  For as Peter says, we are not following cleverly devised stories (2 Peter 1:16), on the contrary, we have desired to be intellectually honest.  As a result, we strive to let Him work through us and touch you.  We therefore invite you to learn/worship:
