He was Pierced for Our Trangressions

“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” - Isaiah 53:3-7

During the CHRISTmas season it's easy to get "wrapped" up in all the activities and at times to think about the baby born in the manager. But...as exciting as that is - we need to remember that as a man He would be rejected and bruised for OUR sake - that's the real message of this CHRISTmas season.

Jesus Christ came to earth, born of a virgin, fully man and yet, fully God to show us the Father and to take our sins upon himself - to DIE for us, for me, for you.

Remember during this time of gift giving that God, our Father, gave the Ultimate Gift in His only Son!
Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). Here they crucified him, and with him two others--one on each side and Jesus in the middle.- John 19:16-18
