From Background Notes [BN] for December 3rd/4th written by Pastor Bob Brown:
“Christ,” on the other hand, is not a proper name. Rather, Christos, refers to Jesus special role as the Messiah (HaMašiaḥ), “the anointed one.”
When used together with Jesus, the meaning comes closer to a title: Messiah Jesus or Jesus the Messiah. The name has royal implications in connection with the line of David. Yet, the anointing of Jesus does not come from human consecration alone. Jesus is anointed by God Himself.[BN,4]
