Jonah 3:3-4

Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”

To follow Jesus is our Jonah-call. How will we respond?

Will we try to save our life through escaping? Will we be ashamed of Jesus’ mission? Will we make excuses? Will we “look back”? Or will the word of the Lord which comes to us be our heart’s acceptance with our hand faithfully put to the plow? Will we be in his service or thrown into the sea? Will the sailors around us see our witness voluntarily given, or otherwise? We are Jonah. Glory to God! Amen. [BN,9]
