Jonah 2:8-9

“Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’”

From Background Notes [BN] for Aug 13th & 14th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

But will the lesson of grace be learned? Jonah experienced it.

He even offered signs of it when he allowed himself to be thrown into the sea so that the sailors might live. And yet, will Jonah see the ocean of mercy overflow to Nineveh? That is the unresolved tension that awaits the final two chapters. Is there life for Nineveh outside the belly of the fish? Will Jonah obey this time? Is there Good News from the lips of prophet who is no longer reluctant? To find out, stay tuned! [BN,8]
