1 Samuel 1:3

Year after year this man went up from his town to worship and sacrifice to the Lord Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were priests of the Lord.

From Background Notes [BN] for July 30th & 31st written by Pastor Bob Brown:

In previous studies we have noted that the Bible tells the story of Israel, God’s ancient people, in terms of a long journey.

They were a pilgrim people on the way to the place of promise and blessing. To celebrate that traveling experience, Israel observed certain pilgrim festivals which drew Israelites up to Jerusalem. Such occasions involved the "journey" from one's hometown to the center of worship: the Tabernacle at first, and later the Temple. The journey required determination and commitment, trekking across wilderness roads which hopefully had been freshened by recent rains. Just as the flowers sprouted and bloomed along the way, so also God's people lifted up their voices in expectant praise, waiting to catch the first glimpse of the sanctuary where they would once more meet with God. Celebration in the presence of Yahweh: that was the destination of such journeys"  [BN,1]
