Zechariah 8:4-5

This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each of them with cane in hand because of their age. The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there.”

From Background Notes [BN] for July 11th & 12th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Since this series considers the mission of the church in Chicago and its environs, these words from the prophet resonate especially well.

Our speaker this weekend is Pastor Nate Ledbetter of our Austin Church on the Block, a faith community situated with boots on the ground in a neighborhood that is ripe for the good news Jesus brings. They are also a faithful community that takes seriously all the dimensions of the Gospel in a blessed and challenging urban setting. As noted from the very first installment of this series, the city remains God’s great passion, and present-day forms of the city offer opportunity for gracious resourcefulness and resourceful generosity, even in the midst of scarcity. Little children are still welcomed for their five loaves and two fishes offered to the loving hands of the Savior who persists in calling them to himself as the very heartbeats of the kingdom of God. [BN,1]

Join us this week in Worship, Praise and Celebration at C1:
