Psalm 27:13-14

I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD

From Background Notes [BN] for May 16th & 17th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Whenever the biblical writer utters the words “I will” he either speaks with foolish presumption or with confidence nourished by hope.

There is a warning in Scripture about borrowing tomorrow’s fortunes today unless the golden words, “If it be your will” are added to the utterance.” James 4:13-14 counsels humility in such cases. Indeed, one favorable companion of hope is humility which holds in check all forms of false confidence about matters humans scarcely control. [BN,1]
