John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

From Background Notes [BN] for May 9th & 10th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

To be human is, to a considerable degree, to be subject to loss and to the temporary. Aging reminds us of how fragile is our existence in the “flesh” where mortality nips at our heels. Life proves an unstable arrangement, marked by inequity and injustice.

More profound still is our sense of loneliness that cuts us off from meaningful relationships. What we desire under these circumstances is a permanence that connects us to other persons. While life appears as something rich and deep, yet our ability to tap the roots of those resources seems limited.

[However,] as persons who believe in God as He reveals Himself in Jesus Christ the crucified and risen one, we know that the way to the fullness of life travels alongside God’s own possibilities for us. [BN,1]
