Acts 27:7

We made slow headway for many days and had difficulty arriving off Cnidus. When the wind did not allow us to hold our course, we sailed to the lee of Crete, opposite Salmone.

From Move the Stone [MtS] written by Pastor Brian Wangler:

The difficulty your leading through is NOT personal, pervasive, or permanent, but the love of God IS.

You were personally selected by God to lead the church, company, team, or family you’re leading.  The God, who chose you personally, loves you that way.  The One, who knows you best, loves you most.  Your issues are personal to God.  He takes you extremely personally.

God’s love for you is pervasive.  Doesn’t matter what closet you go to hide in, His love is already there.  He loves you when you fail, succeed, or don’t even try.

His love for you is permanent.  He’s not wringing his hands just because you are.  He doesn’t love you less because you blew it last Friday or the first thing Monday morning.  One of the things in this world that you can do absolutely nothing about is God’s love.  He loves you.  (Please note the period at the end of the previous sentence.)

So, when the spiral begins, remember this truth and claw and crawl your way through.  When it feels personal, remember it isn’t.  The people criticizing you were criticizing others before you and are likely to criticize those who lead after you.  Welcome to the crowd.
