Numbers 11:27-29

A young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses’ aide since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!”  But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!”

From Background Notes [BN] for February 25th/26th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Here is Moses, instructing young Joshua to relish the thought that one day Yahweh might make the Spirit the continuing portion of God's people and not just an occasional experience.

For Eldad and Medad something unusual happened: the Spirit remained, they remained, and their empowered words remained. What John the Baptizer witnessed in Jesus was just such a continuing of the Spirit's presence not only at the baptism but also afterward. So convinced was John of what he witnessed that he could exclaim in 1:29, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" And, even more powerfully, he can declare in 1:34, "This is the Son of God." By the way, such a confession would also be made by the centurion standing at the cross when Jesus died as recorded by Matthew (27:24).[BN, 5]
