Jeremiah 33:3

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

From Background Notes [BN] for February 11th/12th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Such a variety of “call” and “answer” language tells us that God’s response to what we ask is not easily scripted or predicted.

When we call to God and lay out our needs or lay bare our hearts, we might hear any number of responses, not all of them part of our original prayer agendas. Our prayers turn over the soil, exposing new directions in our relationship with God. But beneath the soil lie hidden treasures deeply buried in the will of God. What our prayers do is open up fruitful dialog with God, allowing Him the opportunity to answer in ways that are truly new. While we might think we know what we need, God knows best. His answers arrive as both answers to what we ask and to what we don’t ask. And, we must always remember, that “No” is as much an answer as is “Yes,” but so is “Wait”! [BN,1-2]
