Hebrews 11:8

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.

From Background Notes [BN] for Feb 6th & 7th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

For ancient Israel the arrival in the Promised Land was a watershed moment in the long arduous history which began with the story of Abraham.

Faith is persistent through the generations, even when the promises of God seem delayed by a host of intervening events. In detailing his monumental “Hall of Faith,” the writer of Hebrews races to his final commentary, filled with exhilaration at the narrative he has just completed: “And what more shall I say?” he exclaims, as if to tell the audience, “Do I really need to give you more examples of the fruits of faith in the God of the covenant who prevails over the vicissitudes of Israel’s history?” [BN,9]
