Ephesians 4:22-24

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;  to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Whole communities must "put off" the old nature and "put on" the new one.

It's hard to imagine concepts like "righteousness" and "holiness" apart from groups of people, living in social settings, practicing justice and desiring to bear God's image in their churches. The Temple of God, rising in the world, where God's Spirit lives (see chapter 2), is both the individual Christian and the whole community of the Church. [BN,7-8]
