Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

From Background Notes [BN] for Nov 14th & 15th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

The transformed heart, formed by the habits of the kingdom, has new desires. What would have once been “mine” becomes “others” and “God’s.”

We are reminded of the story of the feeding of the five thousand. The seemingly small and insufficient gift of the little boy with five loaves and two fish, when handed over to Jesus, becomes an abundance to feed the multitude. Kept for himself alone, the food was no better than confederate money. Given to Jesus, the boy’s food acquired kingdom value with kingdom power to renew the life of others. Recall the actions of our Lord toward the gift: he took, he blessed, and he gave. In response, the disciples distributed to the gathered community. Hearts that desired the kingdom worked together, and in so doing participated in the larger purposes of God. Possessions turned into value-added gifts with the capacity to do more than otherwise possible had they been hoarded. [BN,7]
