Ephesians 4:20-21

That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.

From Background Notes [BN] for Aug 2nd & 3rd written by Pastor Bob Brown:

... to learn a person is unusual, applying the verb to a person, treating him as its object. However, within the Jewish culture, rabbis took students, talmidim, not only to learn from them, but to witness their life.

That is why when Jesus called his disciples, at least one of them asked the question "where are you staying" (John 1:38-39), since they would be spending considerable time together, allowing the disciple to observe how the rabbi conducted himself. The transfer or imprinting of the godly life took place person-to-person and was not merely a matter of communicating a body of information.  [BN, 3]
