From Background Notes [BN] for July 14th & 15th
written by Pastor Bob Brown:
In the company of Jesus and each other, the disciples travel together for at least two days from Ainōn (see John 3:23), east of Jordan, to Bethany, two miles from Jerusalem.
In the company of Jesus and each other, the disciples travel together for at least two days from Ainōn (see John 3:23), east of Jordan, to Bethany, two miles from Jerusalem.
The route they followed meant not only
distance, but also elevation: approximately 1200 feet below sea level across
the Jordan to 2200 feet above sea level near Jerusalem in Bethany. Does not
geography mirror theology, as the disciples not only pass the miles, but also
make the climb? [BN, 14]
