From Background Notes [BN] for Feb 20th & 21st written by
Pastor Bob Brown:
As we continue our study of the Church
in Ephesians, our emphasis this week climaxes with Paul’s image of the
Church as a “temple” or “building,” consisting of a full range of human
persons, integrated and framed into the place where God chooses to live.
Put simply, we are persons “built
together” so that God may be at home among us. The idea of God-in-a-place holds
mystery and promise. Where can God possibly situate Himself, since He fills the
created world with his presence? Ancient Israel grappled with this perplexity
when the decision
was made to construct a brick-and-mortar Temple during the reign of King
Solomon. [BN,1]
