In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

In his letter to the Ephesians thus far, Paul begins to reveal the shape of the church in light of God’s eternal purposes for humankind. In Jesus Christ, God is gathering together a new society, a new world order, with foundations quite different from the kingdoms of the world.

By means of the church, God intends to show His true character so that His new people might mirror that character back into the world. The church by its very existence is the sign of God’s presence in the world to restore and redeem His lost creation. [BN,15]
