Hebrews 4:9-10

There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.

From Background Notes [BN] for Nov 8th & 9th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Yes, we must work for God and His kingdom, but we must also allow room for God to work on us, and that is the purchase we have in the Word of the Gospel.

Ironically, it requires “effort to enter that rest”! Extraordinary: having to work at resting! And yet, given the nature of the modern rat race, 24/7, multi-tasking world of cell-phones, instant messages, Facebook, and the like, how can we ever break free from our technological servitude and take rest? Even in the work of God, as Jesus well affirms, there is need to rest and allow a deeper work to happen in our lives — one that better fits us for our work tomorrow. [BN,8]
