Philippians 3:3

For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—

From Background Notes [BN] for June 2nd & 3rd written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Because we are in the "realm of the Spirit,” that is, in "the kingdom of God,” we do not rely on "the flesh" to accomplish God's work.

People who insist on the outward, ritualized sign of circumcision, are plainly relying on the "flesh,” and not on the "Spirit.” Herein lies the real heart of Paul's argument which stretches from 3:1 through 3:21. It is why Paul calls these false teachers "dogs,” because they have an obsession with "the flesh,” scavengers of the flesh.  [BN, 5]
