Joshua 2:23

Then the two men started back. They went down out of the hills, forded the river and came to Joshua son of Nun and told him everything that had happened to them.

From Background Notes [BN] for Sept 17th & 18th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

Joshua's account of the spies' return exudes enthusiasm and embryonic courage.

Recounting the events of the past three or four days, they declare: "Truly Yahweh has given all the land into our hands. And also, all the inhabitants of the land melt away because of us."  Not their words, but Rahab's words! They base their mission on the words of Rahab the harlot? Perhaps they simply marveled at how much she believed about their God. Or how much she was willing to surrender with courage, in exchange for salvation. Or the glitter of the bright red cord hanging in her window that they hoped soon they would seen again as sign and symbol that salvation had come to this woman's house. [BN,4]
