From Background Notes [BN] for Feb 21st &
22nd written by Pastor Bob Brown:
Such persons are without question
viewed as evil, being unquestionably guilty of crimes against God and others.
Foreign nations often were called “wicked”
because they unjustly oppressed the people of God. When bad things are done to
good people by bad people, this term comes into play. If the word for “righteous”
is tzedek, then rāšā‘ is its exact opposite. Wickedness is not
only contrary to God’s character it is hostile to the wellbeing of the
community. Such persons fall under the judgment of God and are considered
genuinely guilty by the ruling of the divine court. [BN,9]
