Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.

Do you feel “at home” in the world?

 

Many do, and dutifully embrace the values and practices of the surrounding culture. Uncritically believing in the so-called value of progress, some people around us may well think that if it’s “new” and “innovative” its must be true and reliable. On the other hand, others voice uneasiness about simply accepting change as a sign of progress, and look elsewhere to find meaning and purpose in life, embracing change when it enhances our relationship with God and with others. Christians are not monolithic in their perspectives on such matters, and so they often differ in their approach to cultural change. Across the centuries the culture of the Church has selectively vetted innovation based on the values of the Gospel... [BN,2]
