1 Peter 5:6

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

From Background Notes [BN] for Sept 27th & 28th written by Pastor Bob Brown:

For Joseph, his exaltation took place at the time of God’s choosing, not unlike the instruction and promise found in Peter’s first letter

Humbled? Yes, but not forgotten. Though displaced among the nations, Joseph finds favor with the powerful without surrendering his devotion and reverence for God. He will be remembered, that is certain, and yet he will not permit his exaltation to become his god. Such honor is reserved for the One who knows the secrets of the dream and reveals it to the one He chooses. In gratitude, the forgotten man remembers the God who makes it so.  [BN,10-11]
