Psalm 15:1-2

Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart.

From Background Notes [BN] for Aug 30th & 31st written by Pastor Bob Brown:

As the Psalmist tells us this week, speaking the truth in our hearts helps us to walk well. It’s all about the word on our lips and where those words come from.

If we listen to bad words, we will have bad walk. “Does he walk the talk?” we sometimes hear people say. That can cut both ways. If the talk is bad, the walk is bad. If the talk is good, the walk is good. It’s all on your lips, dear people of God, and how it gets on your lips matters. Bad words lead us to slander and wrong our neighbor. Bad words lead us to slur our fellowman. Bad words lead us to honor evil and despise God. Bad words lead us to make promises we have no intention of keeping. Bad words lead us to manage our money poorly. Bad words not only affect us, they affect others — most importantly, they leave really bad examples for our children and our grandchildren.[BN, 3]
