And so when we study the story of Nicodemus, we are simply following the strands of thought which run throughout the opening chapters of the Gospel.

Something "from above" has come down to those who are "from below," and when it does, it changes what is below, lifting it up to that which is above. Water, Temple, Nicodemus, and the woman at the well are all "from below," but through his vocation Jesus will raise them up--they will be re-born and he will make them new. This study raises the question, "Does Jesus Change You?" and then seeks to listen for answers from the Gospel. [BN,8]
